WHITE COLLAR THIEVES! We all know
the tax payers have just been ripped off by the slick dealers on Wall Street and in some of our banks and other institutions.
More than the tax payers have been ripped off; how about the poor working man or woman who lost whatever savings they
may have had or lost their home?
We do not hesitate to confiscate stolen goods from other criminals; why didn’t we “claw
back” some of this stolen money? We are trying to get “Bernie” Madoff’s stolen
money found and returned; how come we don’t make an equivalent effort for the working man and women who lost their money
on the other scams? Oh, maybe it makes sense to differentiate now because people with influence were
caught in the Madoff scandal.
I don’t know; just wondering.
Oops,
I should include the difficulty we are having at passing laws and rules to prevent this financial mess from happening again!
What is the problem here? Again, are the wrong people being impacted?
FOREIGN
AFFAIRS! Do I really have to say anything on this subject? When will we begin to keep
our noses out of other people’s business? Is it really necessary for us to spend all of our money
and the blood of our citizens to solve the world’s problems?
Is this really some major act of kindness or charity? I have read many times how
certain people make tons of money from every war no matter how large or small it is.
Look at the leaders (questionable use of the word) we are defending in Afghanistan
(Hamid Karzai and his drug dealing brother). I can probably say something similar for Nouri al-Maliki in Iraq.
I don’t even
want to attempt to name all the others we are supporting with our blood and/or treasure. Besides them,
who else is getting rich in this process? We know someone is and it is not the American public.
PARTISAN
POLITICS! Enough Said!
Sound like a lot of skepticism? It probably is.
However, I think
there is also a great deal of justification. Just listen and look around you.
Is this political climate healthy for the country? Are the
actions of our corporations healthy for the country?
Is the competition we are going to face in the future from Brazil, Russia, India
and China (what is now known as the BRIC countries) the same as we faced in the past?
Do we have anywhere near the natural resources we used to have?
Can
we recover our Education System? We now rank 9th among industrialized nations (people aged 25
to 34 with a High School education) and 7th (people in the same age group with a college education).
Just 20 years ago, we ranked first in both categories.
