AUTHOR'S ANGER

I saw your signs “We want our country back!”

IF that is a racial thing; there is nothing I can do for you!  However, if that sign means we want jobs, security, and individual success back, then you need to continue on this web site.

I would like to comment on prejudice, if I may.  Growing up in the U.P. of Michigan, we were never taught that kind of hate.  Probably because there were no minorities up there at the time.

However, even as an adult, I could never understand that!  How can a person be prejudice against a particular kind of person one minute and yet, when that same kind of person is a super football star he is "a great half back!".  I see this everyday and everywhere; prejudice just seems to be some kind of stupid built in reflex rather than a real thing!  Next time you feel or think like that, ask yourself why?

Wealth means much more than money; it means power!

You will see how you are being “used” by powerful groups and lobbies to further their own ends; not yours!

Who are these wealthy people?  Who are these powerful groups?  What are these powerful lobbies?

      HEALTH CARE AS AN EXAMPLE

The most recent example I can give you is what is happening regarding health care in this country.  As of this writing, I have no idea what the end result will be.

I do know you have been deliberately lied to; you have been provided with distorted facts and information out of context!

I have seen many of you at the town hall meetings pushing hard against having any “public option”!

Preventing a “public option” is not in your best interest!

You need a public option such as “Medicare for all”.

You don’t think that is true because of the power of the lobbies and what you have been hearing from some of your political leaders.

Before I go into that subject, ask yourself a couple questions.

Do you know anyone who is currently on Medicare?  If you do, and I am sure everyone does, simply ask them what they think of Medicare?  Also ask them if they would like to get rid of it? Ask them what they would do if they didn’t have Medicare?  Also ask them when the last time they were refused medical attention while on Medicare?

You see, Medicare is basically what the “public option” is.  You have been told we must not get into socialized medicine!  We must not get into a “single payer” system!  Do you know the difference between these two alternatives?

Medicare is an example of a “single payer” system.  This means, all money is collected and paid out by a single source; in this case it is the government.  The actual delivery of medical care is all done by private business; hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and doctors.  There is nothing socialistic about that!

The best example in this country of socialized medicine is the Veterans Administration.  This is socialized medicine.  In this case, the government owns and runs all the hospitals; all the doctors, nurses, etc. work for and are paid by the government.

These two systems are obviously very different!

Even more outstanding is the fact that both seem to work reasonably well!

Don’t accept all the lies you hear about other countries and how bad their health care systems are.  They do much better than we do.

I have included the basic ratings from the World Health Organization. To see all of the detail, go to this web site:

Take a look at these ratings from the World Health Organization of the top 50 countries.  You will see we are number 37 on an overall basis.

Ranked at 37, we are the worst of all major democratic advanced countries!

Let me clarify one very critical point!  These ratings are based on several criteria including cost, availability, etc.  Each criterion is given a value and the overall rating is developed from those values.

To continue my clarification, let it be known that the United States is first in what the medical community calls “RESCUE CARE”.

In this context, "RESCUE CARE" does not mean Emergency Room care.  This category of "rescue care" consists primarily of things like major organ transplants and special diagnostics of little known and complex medical problems.  If that is your problem, this is the place to be!  That is why you hear of Kings and Presidents from other countries coming here for care.

“RESCUE CARE” however, is not normal health care!  Very few of us will ever need this special care.  The everyday care we need is what is rated by the World Health Organization and when it comes to that, we are far behind!

It’s OK to be proud of the USA but do not deny these facts; that would not be rational thinking and will certainly not help us improve our system!

The next question is why these groups and lobbies would work so hard to distort the facts on health care?

I suppose you think they love you and have your best interest at heart.  You can’t believe they would distort the facts.  You are totally wrong!

They have very simple motives; their motives are money and power; period!

Who are these people and lobbies?

They are primarily the health insurance companies; secondly politicians; and thirdly, right wing pundits.

Let me make a comment off the subject.  Don’t you find it odd, the entire Republican Party, for the most part, has voted “NO” on everything!  Does that seem reasonable to you?  Don’t you think either party, at one time or other, might have at least one good idea?  Maybe not often but at least once in awhile.

Lets go back now to the main characters in this health care debate.  The people with the greatest vested interest and the most to lose are the insurance companies.  We are talking billions or trillions of dollars!  Let me show you the annual incomes of some of the leading health company executives.

NOTE:  The figures in column 3 and 4 are millions of dollars!

It should be obvious who has the most to lose here.  It certainly isn’t you!  You have everything to gain!  The lowest paid person on the chart earned 2.68 million; that is $1269.00 an hour for those of us who have ever been paid by the hour!

Now let me show you the contributions made by the health care insurance companies to some of our leading politicians.

Now let me share an article from the Washington Post regarding contributions to politicians.

Health Sector Has Donated Millions to Lawmakers  By: Dan Eggen, Washington Post Staff Writer

Sunday, March 8, 2009 Health insurers and drug makers have showered members of the 111th Congress with millions in campaign contributions over the last four years, with a special focus on leaders who will play major roles in shaping health-care legislation, according to a study to be released tomorrow. Health insurers and their employees contributed $2.2 million to the top 10 recipients in the House and Senate since 2005, while drug makers and their employees gave more than $3.3 million to top lawmakers during that period, according to an analysis of federal elections data by Consumer Watchdog, a California-based advocacy group. The biggest beneficiaries in the Senate included John McCain (R-Ariz.), with $546,000; Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), with $425,000; and Max Baucus (D-Mont.), with $413,000, who as head of the Finance Committee will play a leading role in the debate over health-care reform. In the House, the two groups gave $257,000 to Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) and $249,000 to Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.). On the Democratic side, Rep. Earl Pomeroy (N.D.) received contributions from the insurance sector ($104,000), while Rep. John D. Dingell (Mich.) took in $180,000 from drug companies. The donations underscore the stakes in the health-care debate as President Obama pushes for dramatic changes by year's end, with the aim of sharply expanding the number of Americans covered by health insurance. Obama held a health-care summit at the White House last week and has proposed a $634 billion reserve fund to kick off the process. The health-care sector has long ranked with financial services and energy interests as one of the most powerful political forces in Washington, and it spent nearly $1 billion on lobbying in the past two years alone. As momentum moves toward overhauling health care, major medical groups have stepped up their lobbying and campaign activities while shifting money and attention to newly empowered Democrats, according to federal records and industry experts.

Last, lets look at the pundits who are primarily using the health care reform simply to get everyone all “fired up”; their motive is to increase their audience and their already boated incomes.

You can be certain; health insurance is not a problem for them!  I showed you some numbers on the other two groups; here are the incomes on this pundit group.

It is believed Rush Limbaugh has a ten year contract worth $400 million dollars; Sean Hannity is in the range of $40 million over a five year period; Glenn Beck is in the range of $20 million a year; Bill O’Reilly is in the range of $9 to $12 million a year.

Yes, they have a vested interest in keeping everyone riled up!  Yes, they want you to take action against your own best interest!  DO NOT DO IT!!!

Now you know who has the vested interest in stopping health care reform and they are “using” you!

The American Medical Association (AMA) supports the reform.  They may have something to lose but yet they know it is what is best for the country and for the ordinary people who live here!  You really should stop supporting these people with these vested interests!  You need to support health care reform, not try to stop it!

Have you ever given any thought to what, exactly, health insurance companies actually do?  They do nothing but suck money out of the health care system!

We, as individuals and our employers, pay massive insurance premiums to these companies!  What do they do?  The first thing they do is skim about 30% of this money to cover their costs and profits!

They then cause the hospitals and doctors to spend excessive amounts of money on administrative costs trying to keep up with the different rules, forms, etc. from each of the various companies.

When that is not enough, they find ways to avoid paying claims and cancelling the policies of people who get sick!  They are experts at that game!

Health insurance companies contribute nothing to health care in any way!

The health equipment manufacturers and the associated supply companies produce something that supports the health care results in many different ways.  They may have excess profits, in some cases, but my point is they are bringing something to the party!

We need to fix health insurance first and then we can look at any profit gouging that may exist.

Other insurance companies like auto, life, home, etc. at least provide us a service and some degree of protection from catastrophe;  they are not in the same business as health insurance companies!  Cars and houses are also not in the same category as our health!!

That is just one example how you are being used everyday by the upper level powers in this country!  ONLY YOU CAN STOP IT!!!
